It has been on the OPTUS catelogue and web page for months. When I could recontract and upgrade my Nokia 710 WP7.8 phone two days ago tried 8 OPTUS stores in Sydney, some had sold out of the five original stock that they received others had got none not even display set. Most of the sales staff were very antagonistic about WP even though they were wearing WP Phone Layards. Finally got one in Newtown, this salesman was still using a Nokia N9 lanyard. They had no display set and just two of the five that they were issued with. NOKIA has to improve its marketing but it also has to improve its inventory and stock.

Re: Recap: “It’s all happening” – new devices, updates and reveals coming…Pt. 1

If I purchase a windows 8 phone now prior to the os update. Is the phone going to be able to be upgraded to the new os. If so is this via Microsoft or via the phone vendor. For example if you purchase a samsung ativ s and samsung don't provide an update will you be at the phone vendors mercy.

Re: Editorial: Catch-22, Return on Investment and the dearth of Aussie Windows Phone Advertising.

Well said Sheeds

Re: A bricked Surface leads to an Aussie Microsoft warranty experience.

I dunno, I think if my 6 month old tablet was bricked I'd be very pissed off, no matter how good the repair/replacement service was. It would certainly make me think twice before buying another device from the same manufacturer.

Re: Editorial: Catch-22, Return on Investment and the dearth of Aussie Windows Phone Advertising.

MS are well and truly outclassed by the other two when it comes to marketing. Then something happened and they lost sales thru no fault of theirs. Consumers wanted cheaper plastic or shaped phones. Seems Nokia are now where NEC are / were. NEC a month or so ago placed its phone section up for sale, shame as they had some great phones. Maybe the powers at be do not know you need to spend money on advertising in all regions of the globe to make money, not just where you think it will work eg Europe, US & Asia.
I believe Nokia / WP8 is great and have a 820 but with out some companies doing a expo on their goods and not letting consumers see their phones they will not sell many.
Nokia / MS just need to open a single shop like apple or Samsung and let people touch see them and they will buy them with out sales reps pushing them.

Re: Editorial: Catch-22, Return on Investment and the dearth of Aussie Windows Phone Advertising.

Great story Sheeds. Nokia Australia are a joke as far I can tell. I am about sick of waiting and waiting. They still haven't released it in Aus and the new model will be out soon. Pathetic. MS needs to decide whether it is serious about being a hardware AND software/services company because at the moment they are pee'ing off their OEMs AND their customers. Make a decision already!

Re: Aussie WinDevs – check out these MSAU events coming your way!

I'd doubt it, BUILD isn't until the end of June, so it would be highly unlikely they'd talk Windows Phone Blue before then, especially in May.

Re: Aussie WinDevs – check out these MSAU events coming your way!

I see Dave's session content is still TBA.. wonder if this will include WP8 Blue content?

Re: A bricked Surface leads to an Aussie Microsoft warranty experience.

Sheeds - I correct my last post above.
Microsoft asked JBs to replace with new two days after leaving the tablet with JBs
JBs info on 6-8 weeks was wrong and Microsoft did the right things

Re: A bricked Surface leads to an Aussie Microsoft warranty experience.

Sorry that you have had a negative warranty experience - I have seen quite a few in your situation based on feeback in the whirlpool.net Aussie forums. However I can assure you that the above is my own personal experience - and is in no way a sponsored or endorsed post by MS. Furthermore, the fact that I run a MS blog was not mentioned at all during my warranty experience.

Re: A bricked Surface leads to an Aussie Microsoft warranty experience.

Not my experience at all which I think makes me doubt above is real

We are the ones in demand NOT the supplier. Ask them if they are going to support us and if not act with a faint amount of disdain and a visible dash of disinterest to any rehetoric or superflous fluff they may offer and be very clear about not wantig to talk to them again. After months of waiting WTF 'we are the customer" and if Telstra can't see that then boo hoo for them as technologies change and their strategy needs to be less narrow else it will come and bite them on the bottom one day.

Re: Editor’s note: Behind the scenes.

Vote for Nokia Lumia 920 in smartphone madness finals: http://blog.laptopmag.com/smar...

Re: Updated: WPDU interviews Andrew Volard of Telstra on Windows Phone…..with bonus CEO feedback.

I gotta say that it really pisses me off the way Telstra and Nokia have handled the release of the 920 in Australia.
